The online “Arne Slot Out” petition has now reportedly passed 18 million signatures — and social media genuinely doesn’t know whether to laugh or be concerned anymore.
At this point, the numbers are becoming completely ridiculous.
The petition has apparently overtaken some of the biggest football-related online campaigns in recent years, including famous transfer petitions involving players like Kylian Mbappé.
Of course, a huge amount of the reaction online is tongue-in-cheek.
But it also reflects just how frustrated large sections of the Liverpool fanbase have become during this season under Arne Slot.
The poor results, passive football and lack of visible improvement have created a level of anger supporters haven’t felt for a very long time.
The funniest part now is that the numbers have become so absurd that fans are joking even people without internet access have somehow managed to sign it.
That’s where the whole thing has crossed from genuine frustration into full internet madness.
Whether the petition itself means anything is another matter entirely.
Online petitions rarely decide football matters.
But what it does show is the scale of the feeling among supporters right now.
Because for something like this to gain so much traction, even partly as a meme, there has to be real frustration underneath it.
And unless performances improve quickly, the noise around Slot is only going to keep getting louder heading into the summer.
