Recent comments from respected journalist David Ornstein have revealed that Liverpool FC’s hierarchy remain fully behind head coach Arne Slot despite the growing frustration among supporters.
Speaking about the situation, Ornstein explained that Liverpool’s owners are firmly committed to their manager.
“Liverpool, from what we hear, are steadfastly behind Arne Slot and he’s under contract until 2027 and they want him to be their coach.
The hierarchy are determined that he is the man to get things right.”
He also suggested that even if Liverpool were actively looking for a new manager, Slot would still match the profile they want.
“If they were looking at a recruitment process for coaches, he’s said to be the exact profile that they would be looking at and that there’s not people on the market that they think better suit what they’re looking for.”
According to Ornstein, this means the club are not considering a managerial change at all.
“I’m expecting this to go on and that the club get to the summer in whatever shape… I don’t think taking out the head coach is on Liverpool’s agenda at all.”
Writing Off the Season?
While stability can sometimes be a positive approach, these comments may concern many supporters.
Liverpool are a club used to competing for the biggest trophies in England and Europe. Yet performances this season have been inconsistent, and recent results have raised serious questions about whether the team is progressing under Slot.
By standing firmly behind the manager regardless of results, it could appear as though the club are accepting that this season may simply be a transitional one.
The Champions League Risk
One of the biggest concerns surrounding Liverpool’s current situation is the financial impact if the club fails to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Champions League football brings enormous financial rewards through broadcasting revenue, sponsorship exposure and matchday income.
Missing out on that competition can cost clubs tens of millions of pounds, while also making it harder to attract top players in the transfer market.
If Liverpool continue to struggle and fall short of qualification, the decision to remain patient with Slot could ultimately prove very costly.
A Crucial End to the Season
Of course, there is still time for things to change.
Football seasons can turn quickly, and a strong run of results could completely shift the narrative. But right now, doubts remain about whether Slot has the tactical answers needed to guide Liverpool through a difficult period.
For the club’s leadership, their commitment to Slot is clear.
The question now is whether that loyalty will eventually be rewarded — or whether it could lead to serious consequences for Liverpool both on the pitch and financially.
