One of the questions beginning to circulate among supporters of Liverpool FC is the future of the club’s current number 10, Alexis Mac Allister.
The Argentine midfielder still has just over two years remaining on his current contract, but discussions are already beginning about whether Liverpool should look to extend his deal in the coming months.
A Difficult Season
Mac Allister arrived at Liverpool with a strong reputation after his performances for both Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. and the national team with Argentina national football team. His intelligence on the ball, passing ability and composure in midfield made him an exciting addition to the squad.
However, this season has not quite gone to plan.
His form has been inconsistent and at times he has struggled to impose himself on games. In a Liverpool side that has often looked short of creativity and urgency, the number 10 shirt naturally carries a lot of expectation — and some supporters feel Mac Allister has not fully delivered.
Does He Deserve a New Deal?
That raises an interesting question: should Liverpool be looking to extend his contract right now?
On one hand, Mac Allister is still a talented midfielder with plenty of experience at the highest level. With the right tactical setup and stronger performances around him, he could still become a key figure in Liverpool’s midfield for years to come.
On the other hand, contracts should reward consistent performances. If his form continues to fluctuate, Liverpool may prefer to wait before committing to a new deal.
A Big Few Months Ahead
The next few months could be crucial for Mac Allister. If he finishes the season strongly, it would strengthen his case for a contract extension and reassure supporters about his long-term role in the team.
But if performances remain below expectations, Liverpool may decide that contract talks can wait.
For now, the situation remains uncertain — but it is another decision that could shape the future of the squad at Anfield.
