The Liverpool Legends match finished 2-2 at Anfield after the Reds had been 2-0 up earlier in the game.
Goals from Thiago Alcântara and Jay Spearing put the Liverpool Legends in full control, and for a while it looked like it would be a comfortable afternoon for the side managed by Kenny Dalglish.
Thiago, in particular, rolled back the years with a superb display in midfield. His composure, vision and technical quality stood out, and it didn’t take long for fans to start wishing Liverpool still had a player like him in the current side. He capped off his performance with a well-taken goal, reminding everyone of the quality he brought during his time at the club.
Spearing also got himself on the scoresheet to make it 2-0 to Liverpool, adding to what was shaping up to be a very comfortable afternoon.
However, the Borussia Dortmund Legends fought their way back into the match and managed to score twice to make it 2-2 by full time.
Despite the result, the day was never really about the scoreline. The annual legends match at Anfield is all about raising money for the LFC Foundation and giving supporters the chance to see former heroes back on the pitch again.
Seeing players like Thiago, Gerrard and many others back at Anfield always makes for a special occasion, and once again the game delivered entertainment, goals and plenty of nostalgia for the fans.
