Jürgen Klopp made an emotional return to Anfield today as he took charge of the Liverpool Legends side, and his comments after the match will certainly get supporters talking.
Speaking after the game, Klopp admitted that being back at Anfield reminded him how much he misses the club.
He said: “Being here at this incredible stadium is making me really miss it. I hope I can be back soon.”
Those words will no doubt spark plenty of discussion among supporters, especially during a period where there is already uncertainty surrounding the club’s future and direction.
Klopp remains one of the most loved figures in modern Liverpool history after transforming the club during his time in charge, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Club World Cup, while also rebuilding the connection between the team and the supporters.
Seeing him back on the touchline at Anfield clearly meant a lot to the fans, and judging by the reaction inside the stadium, many supporters would welcome him back with open arms if the opportunity ever came in the future.
Whether that was just an emotional comment in the moment or something more, nobody knows. But one thing is certain — Jürgen Klopp still has a very special connection with Liverpool Football Club, and many supporters will secretly be hoping that one day he does return, maybe even on a permanent basis.
