It has been reported that Liverpool will only have one or two training sessions before their huge game this weekend against Manchester City, with Arne Slot returning around the same time as many of the players coming back from international duty.
That means very limited preparation time for one of the biggest matches of the season, which is far from ideal, especially considering the important fixtures Liverpool have coming up.
What makes it even more concerning is that the FA Cup quarter-final is extremely important for Liverpool this season, and it comes just before they face PSG in the Champions League only a few days later. That is a massive week that could define Liverpool’s season — domestic cup progression and a European quarter-final against one of the strongest teams in Europe.
With so little time on the training ground, the coaching staff will have very little opportunity to properly prepare tactically, work on shape, pressing, set pieces and match planning. Big games are often decided by small details, and preparation time is usually crucial.
Instead, Liverpool are going into a run of season-defining matches with players arriving back late from international duty and barely any time to work together as a full squad.
The next few games could shape Liverpool’s entire season, and they will be going into them with minimal preparation, which is far from ideal at this stage of the season.
