Why Liverpool Think They Don’t Need To Replace Salah

31 Mar

There is growing belief inside Liverpool F.C. that replacing Mohamed Salah will not come down to signing one player — but instead building a new attack around the players already at the club.

According to reports, Anfield figures have pointed to the huge investment made last summer in Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike as the reason why Salah’s long-term successor may already be in the squad.

The club reportedly accepts that Salah is simply irreplaceable as an individual player. Instead, the plan appears to be replacing his goals, creativity, and influence across multiple players rather than one direct replacement.

Replacing Salah By Committee

Salah has been Liverpool’s main goalscorer, creator, and match-winner for years. Finding one player to match his output is almost impossible. Instead, Liverpool’s strategy looks like it could be to spread the responsibility across a new-look attack.

If Isak, Wirtz, and Ekitike can play together consistently, Liverpool could have:

A central goalscorer A creative attacking midfielder A wide forward who can score and create A more fluid front line rather than one focal point

This would represent a shift away from the Salah-focused attack Liverpool have relied on for so long.

The Club Want Them To Play Together More Often

Internally, the club are said to be determined to see the trio play together more consistently. Injuries, rotation, and tactics have meant fans have not seen them play regularly as a unit yet.

But it seems clear that the long-term vision for Liverpool’s attack involves those three players forming the core of the next generation team.

The End Of The Salah Era — And The Start Of A New One

Replacing Mohamed Salah was never going to be about signing another Mohamed Salah. Players like him only come around once in a generation.

Instead, Liverpool appear to be planning the next era differently — building a new attacking system with multiple stars rather than relying on one superstar.

Salah may be impossible to replace, but Liverpool’s next great attack might already be at Anfield.
