There was positive team news for Liverpool F.C. as the squad returned to training on Thursday ahead of the FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City F.C..
Both Jeremie Frimpong and Alexander Isak were involved as Liverpool resumed training, giving the squad a timely boost before the big weekend fixture.
Frimpong Passed Fit
Frimpong had a recent injury scare after being forced off while on international duty, which raised concerns he could miss the FA Cup tie. However, he has now been passed fit and returned to training, which is a major boost given Liverpool’s issues at right-back this season.
With injuries affecting the defensive positions at times this season, having Frimpong available again gives Liverpool more balance and attacking threat down the right side.
Isak Back After 15 Weeks
The biggest news is the return of Alexander Isak, who has rejoined the squad for the first time in almost 15 weeks after his injury.
While he may not start the game, there is now a strong possibility that he could make the matchday squad on Saturday, which would be a huge boost for Liverpool’s attacking options heading into a massive FA Cup quarter-final.
After such a long time out, even having him on the bench would give Liverpool another attacking option if they need a goal late in the game.
Big Boost Ahead Of Huge Game
The timing could not be much better for Liverpool. A trip to Manchester City is one of the toughest games of the season, and having players returning from injury gives the manager more options both tactically and from the bench.
If Frimpong is fit to start and Isak is available from the bench, Liverpool will head into the FA Cup quarter-final in a much stronger position than expected just a few days ago.
