One of the big talking points ahead of Liverpool’s FA Cup clash with Manchester City was whether Alexander Isak would be involved — but now we know the answer.
He isn’t in the squad at all, which means he will play no part in the game.
So the big question now becomes: Is he being saved for PSG?
A Clear Sign Slot Is Being Careful
If Isak was fully fit and ready, he would almost certainly be on the bench at least. Not being in the squad suggests Liverpool are being very cautious with his return after a long injury layoff.
This usually means one thing:
They are targeting a different game for his return.
And the obvious game is the Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
Perfect Game For His Return
It would actually make a lot of sense for Isak to return against PSG rather than Manchester City.
Why?
More space in Champions League games Impact off the bench could be huge City game would be very physical Liverpool may need a game changer against PSG He can be managed with 20–30 minutes
If the game is tight, bringing on a fresh Isak against PSG defenders could be a massive moment.
What This Probably Means
Not being in the squad today likely means:
He’s not fully match fit yet Liverpool don’t want to risk him They are building his fitness PSG is the target return game
So while it’s disappointing he’s not involved today, it might actually be good news for the PSG game.
Big Week Ahead
Liverpool have some huge games coming up, and getting Isak back fit could be a massive boost at exactly the right time.
He might not be ready for Manchester City…
But don’t be surprised if we see him under the lights against PSG.
