There’s a lot of pressure on Arne Slot right now, and plenty of calls for change at Liverpool FC.
But the reality is, the situation is far more complicated than simply blaming the manager.
A Perfect Storm Of Problems
This season has been hit by a long list of issues that no manager would find easy to deal with.
Some of the key problems include:
Mohamed Salah not hitting his usual elite levels Ibrahima Konaté struggling in key moments Alisson Becker missing games through injury Alexander Isak dealing with fitness issues Jeremie Frimpong struggling physically Joe Gomez inconsistent form Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez adapting to a new system Freak goals, deflections and moments of bad luck Question marks over player attitude and mentality
On top of that, injuries to key players at crucial times have disrupted any rhythm or consistency.
Put all of that together, and it becomes clear this has been a difficult environment for any coach.
Injuries And Instability
Losing players at key moments — whether through injuries or fitness issues — has had a huge impact.
When:
Goalkeepers are missing Defenders are not fully fit New signings are adapting Key attackers are out of form
It becomes very difficult to build momentum.
Consistency is everything in football, and Liverpool simply haven’t had it.
What A New Manager Might Fix
That said, changing the manager could still bring improvements in certain areas.
A new coach might:
Fix tactical issues Improve player roles and positioning Bring fresh energy and belief Change the atmosphere (“vibes”) around the squad Get more out of underperforming players
Sometimes a new voice is enough to reset a team mentally.
But It’s Not A Magic Solution
However, it’s important to be realistic.
A new manager would not:
Instantly fix injuries Turn every player into top form overnight Solve squad depth issues Remove all bad luck Guarantee results
Those problems would still exist.
A Bigger Rebuild Needed
This feels like more than just a managerial issue.
It looks like a squad that needs:
Better balance More depth Key reinforcements Players refreshed Clear roles
That takes time, recruitment and planning — not just a change in the dugout.
The Real Question
So the real question isn’t just:
Should Liverpool change the manager?
It’s:
Will that actually fix the deeper problems at the club?
Because right now, it feels like Arne Slot is part of the problem — but not the only problem.
Jamie (The Kopite View)

Not so long ago we had arguably the best two fullbacks in Europe, the best goalie, the best centre back and the best forward line.Compare this lot. It,s the recruitment team that needs sacking not Slot. Redwal
You’re right, and agree the recruitment team needs to go too.
