Roy Keane SLAMS Liverpool Board Over Alonso and Slot Situation

12 May

Roy Keane has delivered a fierce criticism of the Liverpool hierarchy, questioning their decision-making and approach to the current managerial situation.

His comments come amid growing discussion around Xabi Alonso, who is being linked with several top clubs, including Chelsea, while Liverpool continue to be associated with Arne Slot.

Keane did not hold back in his assessment of Liverpool’s leadership, suggesting the club are “sleepwalking into a disaster” if they do not act decisively in the market.

He highlighted Alonso’s reputation as one of the most exciting young coaches in Europe and questioned why Liverpool are not pushing harder for a reunion with their former player.

Instead, he claimed the club appear to be sticking firmly with Slot despite an inconsistent season and growing frustration from supporters.

The former Manchester United captain also pointed to what he sees as a lack of progress under Slot, arguing that the team have shown inconsistency, a weak mentality in key moments, and a clear drop-off from the standards set in previous seasons.

Those comments reflect a wider debate among supporters, with opinions divided over whether Liverpool should continue backing Slot or consider a change if a high-profile alternative becomes available.

Keane also warned that if Liverpool allow a rival like Chelsea to secure Alonso while maintaining the status quo, it would reflect badly on the club’s leadership in the long term.

In his view, history will not remember “excuses”, only decisions — and whether Liverpool acted when a top managerial option was available.

It is the kind of outspoken assessment Keane is known for, but it will only add further noise around an already intense debate at Anfield as the summer approaches.

I’d prefer a proven Prem League manager rather than Alonson ( success un Germany failed in Spain) and the Bournemouth boss would be my preferred choice
