Liverpool’s Transfer Work Hasn’t Stopped – Patience May Still Be Rewarded

25 Jul

One message appears to be emerging from inside Liverpool:

The transfer work has not stopped.

My understanding is that supporters can be reassured the club still expects to make further signings before the transfer window closes.

While frustration has grown over the pace of Liverpool’s business this summer, there is a clear reason why things have not moved as quickly as many fans had hoped.

Iraola Wanted to Assess the Squad First

According to my understanding, Andoni Iraola did not want to rush into signings before seeing his players up close in pre-season.

Rather than making decisions based purely on last season or scouting reports, the new head coach wanted the opportunity to:

● Work with the current squad.

● Assess individual players.

● Evaluate the academy talent.

● Identify where improvements are genuinely needed.

That process is still ongoing.

For a new manager, it makes sense to understand exactly what he already has before deciding what he still needs.

Recruitment Continues Behind the Scenes

The lack of official announcements does not mean Liverpool’s recruitment department has gone quiet.

Far from it.

Discussions, scouting and negotiations continue behind the scenes, even if supporters are not seeing every detail unfold publicly.

Liverpool have consistently operated this way under Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes.

Many of the club’s biggest signings have progressed quietly before suddenly accelerating.

The Club Are Expected to Add More Quality

While no names can be guaranteed, the expectation remains that Liverpool will strengthen further before the deadline.

Iraola has already hinted publicly that he would like additional options in certain areas of the squad.

Supporters have also recognised positions where depth could still be improved.

The assessment taking place during pre-season will help determine exactly where those reinforcements arrive.

Patience Is Difficult…

Liverpool supporters are understandably impatient.

Rivals have been active.

Transfer rumours appear every day.

It is only natural that fans want to see new faces arriving.

But football transfers are rarely straightforward.

The right player, the right price and the right timing all have to align.

Liverpool have often shown they are willing to wait rather than compromise.

…But It Has Paid Off Before

History suggests Liverpool’s patient approach has often delivered excellent results.

The club have repeatedly resisted panic buying, instead focusing on players they believe genuinely improve the squad.

That strategy has helped bring some of the most successful signings of the modern era to Anfield.

Supporters may not enjoy the waiting, but it has frequently proven worthwhile.

The Message to Supporters

For now, the message appears simple:

Stay patient.

The squad assessment is ongoing.

The recruitment work continues.

And Liverpool remain expected to strengthen before the window closes.

Transfer windows are rarely judged by who signs first.

They are judged by who signs best.

Liverpool will hope that, once again, patience proves to be one of their greatest strengths.
