This one’s a bit frustrating if you’re a Liverpool FC fan.
Reports are saying contract talks with Curtis Jones have basically stopped, and he was open to a move to Inter Milan in January before the club blocked it.
When you hear that, it doesn’t exactly sound like a situation that’s going to get fixed any time soon.
Feels like it’s been coming
Jones has never really nailed down a consistent role.
One week he’s starting, the next he’s on the bench, then he’s filling in somewhere else. He’s always been useful, but never quite first choice.
And eventually players get fed up with that.
He actually gives you a lot
That’s why it’s disappointing for me.
He might not be a star every week, but he gives you:
- Flexibility across midfield
- A player who’s comfortable on the ball
- Someone you can trust to come in and do a job
In a long season, that matters more than people think.
The January move says everything
The fact he was open to going to Inter Milan says a lot.
It tells you he’s clearly been thinking about his future, and maybe feels like he’s not getting what he wants at Liverpool.
Once that thought is there, it’s hard to pull it back.
My take
Honestly, I think this is poor from the club.
And yeah — it’s even more disappointing because he’s a Scouser.
You always want local lads to make it here, and it feels like we’ve never fully committed to him one way or the other.
He’s just kind of been… there.
Final thought
This feels like one of those situations that drags on and then suddenly he’s gone.
And when that happens, we’ll probably look back and think it could’ve been handled better.
Because players like Curtis Jones do have a place — you just need to actually decide what that place is.
If you’re planning a trip to Anfield or want to make the most of the matchday experience, I’ve put together a simple, practical guide to help you prepare for your visit.
