Mohamed Salah eased fears over his fitness after picking up a knee injury during Egypt’s latest World Cup fixture.
The former Liverpool forward was forced off during the match, immediately raising concerns given both the importance of the tournament and the uncertainty surrounding his club future.
Fortunately for Egypt, the early indications are encouraging.
Speaking after the game, Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan revealed that he had spoken directly with Salah.
“I talked to Salah and he said he’s going to be OK and it’s not a big injury.”
Hassan added:
“We still have time to talk to the medical staff. I think he will be back, and when I spoke to Salah he assured me he’s going to be OK.”
Those comments will come as a huge relief to Egypt supporters.
A Crucial Time for Salah
The injury scare comes at a significant moment in Salah’s career.
Having now played his final match for Liverpool, the Egyptian international is currently searching for his next club after bringing an extraordinary chapter at Anfield to an end.
Several clubs have already been linked with him in recent weeks, and strong World Cup performances were expected to further underline why he remains one of the world’s elite forwards.
Any lengthy injury at this stage would have been far from ideal.
Egypt’s Main Man
Salah remains the heartbeat of the Egyptian national team.
His experience, leadership and ability to decide matches make him indispensable.
Even when he is not scoring goals, his movement and creativity create opportunities for teammates and force opponents to adjust their entire defensive approach.
Egypt will be desperate to have their captain available as the tournament progresses.
Positive Early Signs
Although further medical assessments are expected, Salah’s own comments to his manager suggest there is no immediate reason for major concern.
That optimism has helped calm fears that his World Cup could be over prematurely.
Given the timing, Egypt’s medical staff are almost certain to manage the situation carefully.
There is little benefit in taking unnecessary risks with one of the tournament’s biggest stars.
Attention Also Turns to His Future
With his Liverpool career now over, every appearance Salah makes at the World Cup is also being watched by clubs across Europe and beyond.
His next destination remains one of the biggest stories of the summer transfer window.
Strong performances could strengthen his position further as negotiations continue behind the scenes.
For now, however, the priority is simply recovering from this latest setback.
A Welcome Update
At this stage, the mood surrounding Salah’s condition appears far more positive than it did when he first left the pitch.
While supporters will wait for confirmation from Egypt’s medical team, Hossam Hassan’s update suggests the injury is not expected to be serious.
That will be welcome news for Egypt as they continue their World Cup campaign—and for the clubs hoping to secure the signature of one of the greatest players of his generation once the tournament comes to an end.
