There is a growing feeling among some Liverpool supporters that this transfer window is reaching a crucial stage.
After an encouraging start to the summer, progress appears to have slowed while several Premier League rivals continue to spend heavily.
Whether those signings ultimately succeed is another question—but the contrast has become increasingly noticeable.
Rivals Continue to Invest
Across the Premier League, clubs are continuing to commit enormous sums to strengthening their squads.
Transfer fees in excess of £100 million are no longer unusual.
Meanwhile, Liverpool supporters have largely been watching training-ground photographs and updates featuring players such as Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott, with relatively little movement in the market compared with earlier in the window.
There is nothing wrong with promoting players already at the club.
The concern is whether that alone will be enough to close the gap.
Iraola Needs Help
One thing should be clear.
If Liverpool appointed Andoni Iraola because they believe he is the right man to lead the club forward, then he deserves every possible chance to succeed.
That means giving him the strongest squad available.
No manager—regardless of quality—can consistently compete for the biggest trophies if obvious weaknesses remain unaddressed.
Supporters have repeatedly identified positions where Liverpool could still improve.
If the club genuinely shares that view, those gaps need addressing before the transfer window closes.
A Familiar Concern
Earlier this summer, many supporters praised FSG for showing ambition.
The arrivals already made suggested Liverpool were prepared to invest.
Now, however, some fans are beginning to wonder whether that momentum has stalled.
There is a concern among sections of the fanbase that the ownership could be drifting back towards the cautious spending that attracted criticism in previous years.
Whether that proves to be the case remains to be seen.
But the perception is beginning to grow.
Success Requires More Than One Good Window
Recruitment should never be judged over a single summer.
Building a title-winning squad requires sustained investment over several windows.
Liverpool have already done excellent business.
The question is whether they are prepared to finish what they started.
Stopping now could leave the squad just short of where it needs to be.
The Pressure Is Growing
Supporters understand that Liverpool’s recruitment team are disciplined.
They also understand that patience has often paid off.
But patience should not become hesitation.
The club cannot expect Andoni Iraola to transform Liverpool overnight without continuing to strengthen the squad around him.
The coming weeks could define not only this transfer window, but also Liverpool’s chances of competing for the Premier League and Champions League.
If the right opportunities are available, Liverpool should be bold enough to take them.
Because appointing an exciting new head coach only represents half the job.
Giving him the tools to succeed is the other half.
And Liverpool cannot afford to fall short on that front.
