Liverpool have reportedly identified FC Köln winger Said El Mala as another player of interest as they continue planning for the future of their attack.
According to TEAMtalk, the 19-year-old has been added to Liverpool’s summer shortlist, although the Reds have not yet advanced their interest beyond initial scouting and assessment.
Competition for his signature is already fierce, with Brighton, Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund also monitoring the highly rated youngster.
Another Exciting Young Talent
Said El Mala is regarded as one of Germany’s brightest emerging attackers.
Still only 19, he has already attracted attention thanks to his pace, technical ability and confidence in one-on-one situations.
Like many of Liverpool’s reported transfer targets this summer, El Mala fits a familiar profile:

● Technically gifted.
● High development potential.
● Significant resale value.
These are exactly the qualities Liverpool’s recruitment team have consistently looked for in recent years.
A Successor to Salah?
Although no deal appears close, the link makes sense.
Liverpool are continuing to reshape their attack following Mohamed Salah’s departure, and the club have already been linked with a number of exciting wide players.
El Mala joins a growing list that includes:

Köln Holding Firm
The biggest obstacle may be the asking price.
TEAMtalk reports that Köln are seeking around £43 million, including bonuses, for the teenager.
That is a substantial fee for a player still developing, and Liverpool are unlikely to move forward unless they believe the valuation represents good value.
The Reds have built their transfer strategy around discipline as much as ambition.
If they feel the price is too high, they have shown in the past they are prepared to walk away.
Strong Competition
Liverpool are not alone.
Brighton have developed a reputation for identifying young talent before anyone else.
Borussia Dortmund remain one of Europe’s best clubs for developing emerging players.
Newcastle also continue to strengthen their recruitment network.
If Liverpool decide to pursue El Mala seriously, they may need to act quickly.
One for the Future
At this stage, there is no indication that negotiations are advanced.
Instead, Liverpool appear to be doing what they have always done—building a shortlist of potential targets before deciding which opportunities offer the best value.
Whether Said El Mala ultimately arrives at Anfield remains uncertain.
But the fact he has been added to Liverpool’s transfer list is another indication that the club’s recruitment team continue to plan not just for next season, but for the next decade.
