If Inter Milan genuinely want Curtis Jones, then it is time to make a serious offer.
Anything less should be rejected immediately.
Liverpool are under no pressure to sell one of their own academy graduates, particularly at a time when Andoni Iraola has spoken positively about the midfielder and sees him as part of his plans.
There has been no shortage of interest in Jones this summer.
Inter Milan, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Newcastle United have all been linked with the Liverpool midfielder at various stages.
That level of interest alone tells its own story.
Players who attract attention from multiple clubs are rarely available at bargain prices.
Liverpool also hold a strong negotiating position.
Jones remains under contract, is entering the prime years of his career and counts as a valuable homegrown player.
Those factors all increase his value.
Unlike a player approaching the end of a contract, Liverpool do not need to accept a discounted fee simply to avoid losing him.
If another club wants him, they should be prepared to pay what Liverpool believe he is worth.
From a football perspective, selling Jones cheaply would make little sense.
He offers versatility across midfield, understands the demands of playing for Liverpool and has shown he can perform in high-pressure matches.
While he has not always been a guaranteed starter, he remains a player with significant experience at Premier League and European level.
Replacing that quality would cost money.
So why sell below market value?
There is also the Andoni Iraola factor.
The new Liverpool head coach has already indicated that he wants to work with Jones during pre-season before any decisions are made about his future.
Every managerial change creates fresh opportunities.
Jones may yet establish himself as an important player under Iraola.
Selling him before giving the new manager the chance to assess him would feel premature.
If Jones himself eventually decides he wants a new challenge, that is a different conversation.
Players move on.
Football evolves.
But Liverpool should only entertain a sale if the offer reflects both the player’s ability and his importance to the squad.
Inter Milan are a prestigious club and an attractive destination.
However, prestige alone does not reduce a player’s transfer fee.
If they genuinely believe Curtis Jones is the midfielder they need, then Liverpool are entitled to expect a bid that matches his value.
Otherwise, Liverpool have every reason to keep him at Anfield.
The message is simple:
Bid properly—or look elsewhere.
