Liverpool’s need for defensive reinforcements has never been clearer.
According to Lewis Steele, if the Premier League season were to begin tomorrow, Virgil van Dijk would reportedly be Liverpool’s only available senior centre-back—and even he has yet to return to pre-season following his extended summer break.
For a club with ambitions of challenging for major honours, it is a worrying situation.
Iraola’s Biggest Concern
Andoni Iraola has already spoken openly about Liverpool’s lack of defensive depth.
Since taking charge, he has repeatedly hinted that strengthening at centre-back is one of the club’s priorities before the transfer window closes.
