Another defender being linked with Liverpool FC.
Apparently Liverpool are one of a few Premier League clubs who’ve asked about Moustapha Mbow from Paris FC.
Not going to pretend loads of people have watched him every week, but it does feel like Liverpool are clearly looking at bringing another centre-back in.
And honestly, it’s needed.
This season we’ve looked shaky defensively far too often, and every time one defender gets injured it suddenly feels like the whole back line changes again.
There’s just never any rhythm there.
From what’s being said, Mbow is quick, physical and comfortable on the ball — which sounds exactly like the sort of defender Liverpool normally target now.
Young, athletic, good in possession.
Personally, I think centre-back should be one of the priorities this summer.
Especially with the constant fitness concerns around Ibrahima Konaté. When he’s fit he’s quality, but it feels like we’re always waiting for the next injury setback.
You can’t keep going into seasons hoping everyone stays available.
It’s only early interest right now, but Liverpool usually don’t start making enquiries unless they’re seriously considering something.
So this could be one that develops over the summer.
