Joe Gomez is reportedly attracting interest from both Beşiktaş and AC Milan ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to reports from Simon Jones, the Liverpool defender is now being monitored by the Turkish and Italian clubs as uncertainty continues around his long-term future at Anfield.
Gomez has been at Liverpool for years and, when fully fit, has often been one of the most reliable defenders in the squad.
His versatility has always been a huge asset too, with the England international capable of playing at centre-back and right-back whenever needed.
But despite that, his Liverpool career has often felt stop-start due to injuries and changes in management.
This season in particular, Gomez has struggled for consistency in terms of both fitness and regular starts.
That naturally leads to speculation whenever transfer windows approach.
A move abroad could genuinely appeal to him at this stage of his career.
At clubs like Milan or Besiktas, Gomez would likely have the chance to become a guaranteed starter again rather than constantly fighting for minutes in a heavily rotated squad.
And at 29, he may feel this is the right time for a fresh challenge.
From Liverpool’s point of view, it would be a difficult decision.
Even if Gomez is not always first choice, experienced and versatile defenders like him are not easy to replace.
Especially in a squad that has already looked defensively fragile at times this season.
A lot may depend on what happens elsewhere in Liverpool’s defence this summer.
With uncertainty still surrounding players like Ibrahima Konaté, letting Gomez leave as well could suddenly leave Liverpool needing major defensive surgery.
For now it’s just interest, but this definitely feels like a situation worth watching over the coming weeks.
