Liverpool are reportedly very impressed with Mamadou Sangaré after his outstanding performances for Lens this season.
The midfielder is believed to be one of the names Liverpool are seriously looking at ahead of what could be another major summer rebuild.
Sangaré has quietly built a big reputation in France over the past year with his athleticism, defensive work and composure in midfield.
He’s the type of player who covers huge ground, breaks up attacks and still looks comfortable in possession — exactly the kind of profile Liverpool have badly lacked at times this season.
A lot of supporters have been crying out for more energy and aggression in midfield, and Sangaré certainly seems to fit that description.
The report also mentions Lamine Camara as another highly-rated option Liverpool are considering this summer.
Camara has already attracted attention from several top clubs thanks to his all-round game and maturity despite still being very young.
Like Sangaré, he brings intensity, mobility and defensive quality in the middle of the pitch.
What’s interesting is that both players fit a very similar profile.
Young, athletic midfielders with strong defensive instincts but also capable of playing football properly rather than simply sitting deep.
That probably says a lot about the type of rebuild Liverpool are trying to put together.
Personally, I think Liverpool desperately need this kind of signing.
Too often this season the midfield has looked too easy to play through, especially in transition and defensive moments.
Adding younger, more aggressive midfielders who can actually dominate physically would make a massive difference.
Whether Liverpool move seriously for Sangaré or Camara remains to be seen, but the fact both names are being linked suggests the club know midfield is still one of the biggest areas needing improvement heading into next season.
