Liverpool Owners Travelling to Anfield as Slot Pressure Grows

20 May

Senior figures from Fenway Sports Group are reportedly planning to travel to Liverpool for the final game of the season as Anfield prepares for an emotional farewell to two modern club icons.

The ownership group are understood to want to personally witness the expected final Anfield appearances of Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson when Liverpool host Brentford on Sunday.

But sources also suggest the visit may not be purely emotional.

There is growing speculation that members of FSG could also be in Liverpool on club business regarding the future of Arne Slot following an extremely turbulent season.

After weeks of pressure, poor performances and growing supporter frustration, uncertainty surrounding Slot’s long-term future remains one of the biggest talking points around the club.

Recent reports have already claimed senior Liverpool officials have been holding meetings in Boston regarding the direction of the football club moving forward.

And with the owners now expected at Anfield personally, speculation is naturally intensifying even further.

Of course, Sunday itself is expected to become an incredibly emotional occasion regardless.

Salah leaves as one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s modern history after helping restore the club to elite European status under Jürgen Klopp.

Meanwhile Robertson has become one of the most loved figures of the Klopp era, admired for his relentless energy, passion and connection with supporters.

That is why FSG’s presence carries significance on multiple levels.

The owners know these are not ordinary departures.

These are players who helped define one of the greatest periods modern Liverpool supporters have experienced.

Premier League titles.

Champions League triumphs.

And unforgettable nights that rebuilt Liverpool’s identity at the top of world football.

But behind the emotion sits a growing sense of uncertainty around the club’s future.

Despite Liverpool now being virtually guaranteed Champions League football next season, many supporters remain deeply unhappy with the direction of the team under Slot.

The passive style of play, defensive collapses and emotional fallout this season have left large sections of the fanbase frustrated and concerned heading into the summer.

That means Sunday’s atmosphere may become very revealing.

There will undoubtedly be huge love shown towards Salah and Robertson.

But FSG may also witness firsthand the tension and uncertainty currently surrounding the football club itself.

And if discussions regarding Slot’s future are indeed taking place behind the scenes, the final day atmosphere at Anfield could become an important part of those conversations.

One thing feels certain:

Sunday will be one of the most emotional days Anfield has seen in years.

And with FSG, Klopp and thousands of emotional supporters all expected inside the stadium, the spotlight on Liverpool’s future has never felt bigger.

No wonder there’s budding plans of a public protest against Slot during the game at Anfield. The fans won’t stand for this

This season could still be successful if Slot is shown the door
