Mohamed Salah Open to Shock Fenerbahce Move After Liverpool Exit

20 May

Mohamed Salah could be set for one of the most surprising transfers of the summer after reports claimed the Liverpool forward is prepared to give the green light to a move to Fenerbahçe.

According to reports emerging from Turkey, the Istanbul giants have already made an informal approach to Salah as they look to pull off one of the biggest signings in the club’s history.

And crucially, it is believed the Egyptian is open to the move.

The reports suggest Salah would be willing to accept an annual salary in the region of €12m-€13m (£10.4m-£11.3m) in order to remain playing in Europe rather than immediately moving elsewhere outside the continent.

That detail is particularly significant because many had expected Salah’s next destination to be Saudi Arabia following his departure from Liverpool.

Instead, it now appears the 33-year-old may still want to compete at a high European level for a few more years before making any final career decisions.

A move to Fenerbahce would undoubtedly send shockwaves through European football.

While the Turkish club are one of the biggest sides in the country with a huge fanbase and passionate atmosphere, few would have expected them to emerge as realistic contenders for a player of Salah’s global profile.

But Turkish football has become increasingly ambitious financially in recent years, attracting major names from across Europe.

And Salah joining the Süper Lig would instantly become one of the biggest transfers in Turkish football history.

From Salah’s perspective, the move could offer several attractive elements.

Regular football.

Huge fan support.

European competition.

And the opportunity to remain one of the central superstar figures at a major club rather than slowly fading into the background elsewhere.

For Liverpool supporters, however, the reports will likely feel emotional.

Many fans are still struggling to fully process the reality of Salah leaving Anfield after nine remarkable years filled with goals, trophies and unforgettable moments.

The thought of seeing him in another club’s colours already feels strange enough.

Seeing him line up for Fenerbahce would feel even more surreal.

Of course, at this stage nothing has been finalised and the situation could still change quickly.

Salah will undoubtedly have multiple options available this summer given his global profile and legendary status in the game.

But the fact he reportedly wants to remain in Europe suggests his hunger for elite football still remains very strong despite constant discussions about age and decline.

Whatever happens next, Salah’s future is now becoming one of the major stories of the summer transfer window.

And if Fenerbahce somehow manage to pull off the deal, it would instantly become one of the most talked-about transfers in world football.
