Watching Alisson Becker throw himself at Kevin Schade to make that unbelievable save against Brentford instantly brought back memories of Napoli in December 2018.
One-on-one.
Game-defining moment.
Pure composure.
Pure brilliance.
The kind of save only truly elite goalkeepers make.
And honestly, it was another reminder of one simple fact:
There is not a world where Liverpool are a better football team without Alisson Becker.
Liverpool supporters have seen this story so many times over the years.
The team struggling.
Defensive shape breaking down.
Opponents suddenly through on goal.
And then Alisson somehow rescuing Liverpool again.
That save against Schade was not just important in the context of the match.
It was symbolic of his entire Liverpool career.
The comparison to Napoli is completely understandable too.
Back then, Alisson produced arguably the most important save in Liverpool’s modern history when he denied Arkadiusz Milik late at Anfield to send Liverpool into the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Without that save, who knows what happens next?
No Madrid.
No sixth European Cup.
No historic Klopp era as we know it.
Moments define football clubs.
And Alisson has delivered countless defining moments for Liverpool.
Yes, injuries have become frustrating.
Nobody can deny that.
Liverpool have missed him for spells this season and supporters understandably worry about his availability long-term.
But even with occasional absences, his overall importance remains absolutely enormous.
Because Liverpool still look calmer, stronger and more secure whenever he plays.
That is why reports linking Juventus with a move for Alisson are terrifying for many supporters.
Juventus reportedly admire him massively and will continue pursuing him this summer.
But Liverpool simply cannot allow this to happen.
Not now.
Not with so much uncertainty already surrounding the squad.
Alisson is not just a goalkeeper.
He is one of Liverpool’s leaders.
One of the few truly world-class players remaining at the football club.
And one of the only players capable of winning games entirely on his own.
That level of influence is almost impossible to replace.
The fear among supporters is obvious.
Liverpool are already potentially losing Salah, Robertson and several experienced figures this summer.
Losing Alisson too would completely rip the spine out of the team emotionally and tactically.
Especially when Liverpool’s defensive structure already looks vulnerable far too often under Arne Slot.
The Brentford save proved something Liverpool supporters already knew deep down:
Even after everything he has achieved, Alisson is still absolutely elite.
And while football clubs always eventually evolve, some players are simply too important to willingly let go.
For Liverpool, Alisson Becker is one of those players.
He cannot be allowed to leave this summer.
