Fresh reports from Wilson Cox LFC suggest Liverpool have continued keeping close tabs on Kevin Schade after first seriously monitoring the attacker back in January.
The versatile Brentford forward is reportedly viewed internally as a possible option as Liverpool continue looking to add more pace, width and flexibility to the squad this summer.
And honestly, the interest makes complete sense.
One of the biggest criticisms of Arne Slot’s Liverpool side this season has been the lack of speed and directness in attack.
Too often Liverpool looked:
- Predictable
- Slow in transition
- Easy to defend against
- And lacking runners capable of stretching defences properly
Schade offers exactly the type of profile Liverpool currently do not really possess consistently enough.
The German attacker’s biggest strength is obvious immediately:
Raw pace.
Schade is devastating when attacking space and running in behind defenders, something Liverpool badly lacked throughout large parts of the season.
Most of Liverpool’s current wide players prefer receiving the ball to feet rather than constantly threatening the space behind opposition back lines.
Schade changes that dynamic completely.
Another reason Liverpool reportedly admire him is his versatility.
Schade is capable of playing:
- Left wing
- Right wing
- Centre-forward
That flexibility is hugely important to Liverpool’s recruitment strategy, especially under Slot.
Liverpool increasingly appear focused on attackers capable of rotating fluidly across the front line rather than specialists locked into one role.
At 24, Schade also fits Liverpool’s preferred age profile perfectly.
Young enough to still improve significantly.
But experienced enough already to contribute immediately in the Premier League.
And importantly, he already understands the physical intensity of English football after adapting well at Brentford.
Supporters may not view Schade as the glamorous superstar signing many crave this summer.
But stylistically, he arguably addresses several of Liverpool’s biggest attacking weaknesses far better than some bigger names being linked.
Because right now Liverpool do not just need technical attackers.
They need chaos.
Speed.
Movement.
And unpredictability.
The fact Liverpool have reportedly tracked Schade consistently since January also suggests this is not simply a random scouting check.
This appears to be genuine long-term interest.
Especially as Slot himself has openly admitted Liverpool lacked enough width and attacking pace during the season.
Whether Schade ultimately becomes a serious priority likely depends on other transfer movement involving players like Yan Diomande, Anthony Gordon or other attacking targets.
But one thing is clear:
Liverpool’s recruitment team are actively searching for more athleticism and explosiveness in attack this summer.
And Kevin Schade certainly fits that description perfectly.
