Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha has been shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year award for the 2025-26 season.
The exciting winger will compete against some of the brightest young talents in European football, including Rayan Cherki, Max Dowman, Junior Kroupi, Kobbie Mainoo and Nico O’Reilly.
The winner will be announced at the PFA Awards on August 25.
While the nomination itself is a huge achievement, what makes Ngumoha’s inclusion so remarkable is the fact he received relatively limited game time compared to many of the other nominees.
Making Every Minute Count
Most players nominated for major individual awards build their case through regular starts and consistent appearances.
Ngumoha’s situation was very different.
Throughout much of the season, opportunities were limited.
Yet whenever he stepped onto the pitch, he seemed determined to leave an impression.
