Reds Lay Groundwork for Potential €70m Midfield Signing

14 Jun

Liverpool’s interest in highly-rated midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi appears to be intensifying, with fresh reports suggesting the club has already taken significant steps behind the scenes.

According to Wilson Cox LFC, Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes recently travelled to France to hold discussions regarding both Ayyoub Bouaddi and Bradley Barcola.

The report also claims that Bouaddi’s representatives were invited to Liverpool’s AXA Training Centre several weeks ago as the club continued to gather information on one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.

Liverpool’s Interest Appears Serious

Bouaddi has been linked with several elite clubs over recent months, but the latest claims suggest Liverpool’s interest goes beyond simple scouting.

Meetings with representatives and discussions involving senior club figures would indicate that the Reds are actively exploring the possibility of a future deal.

While no agreement has been reached, Liverpool appear determined to position themselves strongly should the opportunity arise.

Lille’s Valuation Presents a Challenge

The report suggests Lille value the midfielder at more than €70 million.

That figure immediately highlights how highly the French club rates their young star.

For a player still in the early stages of his career, it is a substantial valuation.

However, Bouaddi is widely regarded as one of the most gifted young midfielders in European football and has already attracted interest from several top clubs.

As a result, Lille are under little pressure to lower their demands.

Why Liverpool Like Bouaddi

It is easy to understand why Liverpool are monitoring him so closely.

Bouaddi possesses many of the qualities modern elite clubs look for in midfielders:

  • Technical quality
  • Composure in possession
  • Tactical intelligence
  • Ball progression
  • Physical development potential

At a young age, he already looks comfortable operating in high-pressure situations and is viewed by many observers as a player capable of becoming one of Europe’s leading midfielders.

Long-Term Planning Underway

Liverpool’s reported interest also reflects the club’s continued focus on long-term squad building.

Even with established midfield options already at Anfield, the recruitment team appear determined to identify the next generation of talent before their value becomes even greater.

That strategy has served Liverpool well in the past and could explain why so much groundwork is reportedly being done now.

Bradley Barcola Also Discussed

The report also references discussions involving Bradley Barcola, another player strongly linked with Liverpool in recent weeks.

The fact that Richard Hughes reportedly discussed both players during the same trip demonstrates the scale of Liverpool’s planning as the club continues to shape its future under Andoni Iraola.

Both players would represent major statements of intent if deals could eventually be completed.

One to Watch Closely

At this stage, supporters should view the situation as a developing transfer story rather than an imminent signing.

Lille’s valuation remains significant and competition for Bouaddi is expected to be fierce.

However, the reported meetings suggest Liverpool are doing more than simply monitoring from a distance.

Whether that ultimately leads to a formal bid remains to be seen.

But if the latest reports are accurate, Liverpool have already laid important groundwork in the race for one of France’s brightest young stars.
