Liverpool’s summer recruitment drive appears to be far from over.
The arrival of Víctor Muñoz may have strengthened Andoni Iraola’s attacking options, but reports continue to suggest the Reds remain determined to complete a deal for highly-rated winger Yan Diomande.
Rather than viewing Muñoz as a replacement for Diomande, Liverpool reportedly see the pair as two very different players capable of playing important roles in the club’s long-term plans.
That should excite supporters.
Muñoz Was Never the End of Liverpool’s Business
When Liverpool moved quickly to secure Víctor Muñoz from Osasuna, many assumed it would bring an end to the club’s search for another wide attacker.
However, recent reports suggest otherwise.
Liverpool remain firmly in the race for Diomande and continue to work behind the scenes on a deal.
It is another indication that the club are not simply looking to replace departing players—they are looking to build a deeper, stronger and more versatile attacking unit.
Different Players, Different Profiles
Although both players are capable of operating across the front line, they bring different qualities.
Muñoz is viewed as an intelligent, versatile attacker who links play well, receives possession under pressure and can operate in several positions.

Having multiple forwards capable of playing across the frontline allows Iraola to change systems without changing personnel.
That tactical flexibility could become one of Liverpool’s biggest strengths next season.

Liverpool’s transfer strategy under Iraola appears increasingly focused on the future.
The club are targeting young players with high ceilings who can develop together over the next five to ten years.
Diomande fits that vision perfectly.

Signing Diomande would not necessarily block the progress of academy talents such as Rio Ngumoha.
Instead, it would raise standards throughout the squad.
Every successful Liverpool team has been built on fierce competition for places.
No player should feel guaranteed a starting position.
That environment often brings the very best out of young footballers.

If Liverpool complete deals for both Muñoz and Diomande, it would represent a significant statement.
The club would not simply be replacing outgoing players.
