Aston Villa Linked With Curtis Jones as Liverpool Reportedly Set £35m–£40m Valuation

22 Jun

Fresh reports have suggested that Aston Villa are exploring a summer move for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones.
According to Indykaila News, Villa are in discussions with Liverpool over a potential transfer, while the Reds have reportedly made it clear to interested clubs that Jones should be valued in line with the current Premier League market for midfielders.
The report claims Liverpool believe a fee in the region of £35 million to £40 million would represent fair value for the academy graduate.

Liverpool Standing Firm
Curtis Jones has been linked with several clubs throughout the summer, but Liverpool appear reluctant to allow him to leave unless their valuation is met.
That stance is understandable.
Homegrown players with Premier League experience, European pedigree and the versatility to play multiple midfield roles are becoming increasingly valuable.
Jones also remains just 25 years old, meaning his best years could still lie ahead.

Aston Villa’s Interest Makes Sense
From Aston Villa’s perspective, the move is logical.
Jones would bring energy, technical quality and top-flight experience to Unai Emery’s squad.
He has already demonstrated that he can perform at the highest level, helping Liverpool compete for major honours while gaining valuable experience in both domestic and European competitions.
A player of his profile would strengthen almost any Premier League midfield.

Is £35m–£40m Fair?
Personally, I believe Liverpool’s reported valuation is reasonable.
When you look at the fees paid for Premier League midfielders in recent seasons, £35–40 million represents strong value for a player with Jones’ age, experience and potential.
He may not have been an automatic starter throughout his Liverpool career, but whenever he has enjoyed a consistent run of games, he has shown exactly what he can offer.
Finding a homegrown midfielder of similar quality for that price would not be easy.

Iraola Still Has a Decision to Make
One important factor remains Andoni Iraola.
Liverpool’s new head coach has yet to oversee a competitive match and will undoubtedly want to assess Jones during pre-season before making any final decisions.
Jones possesses many of the qualities associated with Iraola’s football:
● High energy
● Aggressive pressing
● Ball-carrying ability
● Tactical flexibility
● Strong work ethic
Those attributes could make him an important part of Liverpool’s plans moving forward.

Not a Sale Liverpool Must Make
Unlike some transfer situations, Liverpool are not under pressure to sell.
Jones remains under contract, is popular within the dressing room and continues to represent excellent squad depth.
If Aston Villa genuinely want to sign him, they may need to meet Liverpool’s valuation rather than expect a bargain.

One to Watch
For now, the report remains speculative, and no agreement has been reached.
However, Aston Villa’s reported interest is another reminder that Curtis Jones remains highly regarded across the Premier League.
Whether he stays at Anfield or begins a new chapter elsewhere, Liverpool appear determined to ensure that one of their own will only leave for a fee that reflects his true value.
