Liverpool Reportedly Make Huge £37m Offer for Gilberto Mora

7 Oct

Well, this is a serious transfer rumour!

Liverpool have been linked with Mexican wonderkid Gilberto Mora for some time, but the latest claim takes things to another level.

According to Mexican journalist David Faitelson, Xolos de Tijuana have received an offer from Liverpool for Mora through his representative, Rafaela Pimenta.

And the reported figure is absolutely enormous.

More than $50 million — around £37 million — for a player who doesn’t even turn 18 until next week.

That would be a historic fee for a Mexican club if the deal eventually goes through.

Liverpool apparently want Mora badly

Liverpool’s interest in Mora isn’t completely new.

The club’s own media watch reported last week that Liverpool have made direct contact with the teenager’s representatives and described their interest as serious.

Mora became one of the breakout young players at the 2026 World Cup with Mexico and has attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

He’s still only 17, but he’s already playing senior football and has represented Mexico at international level.

Now, if Faitelson’s information is correct, Liverpool may have taken the next step.

And what a step it would be.

£37m for an 18-year-old?

This is the part that really catches my attention.

Liverpool paying more than £37m for an 18-year-old would represent a massive statement about how highly they rate Mora.

We’re not talking about signing a youngster for a few million and hoping he develops.

This would be serious money.

But Liverpool have increasingly shown that they’re prepared to invest heavily in young talent when they believe the player has exceptional potential.

We’ve already seen the club make significant investments in young players, and Mora appears to be viewed as someone who could become a major star.

I can understand why Liverpool are interested

I’ve watched some of the attention surrounding Mora and, honestly, I can see why Liverpool would be interested.

He’s technically gifted, extremely young and already playing with an impressive level of maturity.

The fact that he was trusted at the World Cup at just 17 tells you something about how highly he’s regarded in Mexico.

And there’s another interesting detail.

Mora’s representative is Rafaela Pimenta, who also represents some of the biggest names in world football.

According to Faitelson, it was through Pimenta that the reported Liverpool offer reached Tijuana.

But let’s not get carried away just yet

As exciting as this sounds, there’s an important caveat.

Liverpool have not officially confirmed that they have made a £37m offer.

This is a report from Faitelson based on information he says he has received from Tijuana.

Other reports do support the idea that a major European transfer is developing, with ESPN Mexico reporting that formal proposals have reached Tijuana and that an agreement could make Mora the most expensive Mexican player to leave Liga MX. However, those reports do not independently identify Liverpool as the destination.

So for now, I’m treating this as a very interesting report rather than a done deal.

But it’s certainly one I’m going to be keeping an eye on.

Could Liverpool have another superstar on their hands?

That’s the big question.

Liverpool have already assembled an incredibly exciting group of young players, and adding Mora to that collection would be some statement.

He’s not even 18 yet.

If Liverpool genuinely believe he has the potential to become one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe, then perhaps the huge fee starts to make more sense.

Personally, I absolutely love the idea of Liverpool trying to sign him.

Would I be nervous about spending £37m on a teenager?

Of course I would.

But that’s the sort of gamble you sometimes have to take if you want to sign the next big superstar before everybody else catches up.

And if the reports are correct, Liverpool aren’t just interested in Gilberto Mora.

They could be prepared to spend a fortune to make sure they get him.

Now that would be some signing.
