Ronald Araujo Sends Confident Message Ahead of Arsenal Clash – Liverpool Have Their Own Weapons!

31 Oct

Ronald Araujo is relishing the challenge of facing Arsenal at Anfield, and the Liverpool defender has made it clear that Andoni Iraola’s side will not be intimidated by the Premier League champions.

Arsenal arrive on Sunday as one of the strongest teams in the country, but Araujo believes Liverpool have enough quality of their own to make life difficult for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Speaking ahead of the huge encounter, the Uruguayan said:

“We also have our own weapons.

“It will be fantastic. It’s a fantastic challenge and I’m sure that, with hard work and the effort we’re going to put in, we can bring joy to our fans.”

That is exactly the sort of attitude I want to hear from a Liverpool player before a big game at Anfield.

Araujo knows what Anfield is all about

Since arriving on loan from Barcelona, Araujo has quickly become an important part of Iraola’s team.

He has brought something Liverpool were missing: physicality, aggression and a willingness to put his body on the line for the shirt.

Although naturally a centre-back, he has made the right-back position his own, providing defensive balance while still contributing going forward.

His performances have also earned him plenty of appreciation from the Anfield crowd. Supporters love seeing a player give absolutely everything, and Araujo has certainly done that.

Against Arsenal, his defensive qualities could be particularly important.

Arsenal will provide a huge test

There is no point pretending this will be an easy afternoon.

Arsenal have quality throughout their team, are well organised and are particularly dangerous from set pieces.

Iraola has already spoken about the threat they pose, and Liverpool will need to be disciplined defensively while taking their opportunities when they arrive.

Araujo’s physical presence could be valuable in dealing with Arsenal’s attacking threats, particularly in the air.

Liverpool have improved defensively in recent weeks, but this is arguably one of their biggest tests so far.

Liverpool need to make Anfield count

The atmosphere at Anfield can make a massive difference in games like this.

Araujo clearly understands what it means to play in front of Liverpool supporters, and his comments show that the players are looking forward to the challenge rather than fearing it.

The Reds have won five consecutive matches in all competitions, including their penalty shootout victory over Chelsea in midweek.

Confidence is growing, but beating Arsenal would be another important step forward under Iraola.

I want to see Liverpool take the game to them, compete for every ball and show the intensity that supporters expect.

My verdict: This is what Liverpool need to show

I like Araujo’s comments. He respects the quality Arsenal possess, but he is also making it clear that Liverpool have players capable of hurting them.

That is the mentality we need.

Nobody is expecting an easy game, but Liverpool should never approach a match at Anfield believing the opposition are better before a ball has even been kicked.

Araujo has already shown the supporters what he is about. Now he has the opportunity to help Liverpool produce another big performance.

Arsenal have their weapons, but Liverpool have plenty of their own. Let’s make Anfield count!
