Liverpool supporters could be forgiven for looking at Mohamed Salah’s latest numbers and wondering just how much the club are missing their former talisman.
The Egyptian superstar has registered an astonishing 15 goal contributions in just 14 games this season, another reminder of the extraordinary quality he continues to bring to the teams he represents.
While Liverpool have been searching for consistency and attacking inspiration, Salah is continuing to demonstrate exactly why he became such an influential figure at Anfield.
These are not ordinary numbers. They are the sort of contributions that change matches, win points and make the difference between a good attacking side and a genuinely dangerous one.
Have Liverpool Underestimated What They Lost?
Replacing a player like Salah was never going to be straightforward.
For years, he was Liverpool’s most reliable source of goals, assists and attacking inspiration. Even when performances around him dipped, Salah had the ability to produce something special.
His contribution went beyond simply finding the back of the net.
He stretched defences, created space for teammates, delivered in the biggest moments and gave Liverpool an attacking threat that opposition defenders constantly had to worry about.
Those qualities are incredibly difficult to replace.
Liverpool may have other talented attacking players, but finding somebody who can consistently deliver the sort of numbers Salah produced season after season is an entirely different challenge.
A Reminder of Salah’s Extraordinary Quality
Fifteen goal contributions in 14 appearances is an incredible return, particularly when you consider the consistency required to maintain those numbers.
It also highlights the importance of having proven match-winners in your team.
Liverpool supporters became accustomed to Salah producing goals and assists almost every week. Perhaps it was easy to take that level of consistency for granted after watching him deliver for so many years.
Now, those numbers provide another reminder of what made him so special.

You don’t fully appreciate what you have until it’s gone.
Salah was never going to play forever, and Liverpool eventually had to plan for life beyond one of the greatest players to wear the shirt.
But 15 goal contributions in 14 games is a pretty emphatic reminder of the quality Liverpool have lost.
The question isn’t whether Liverpool can find goals from other players. It’s whether they can find someone capable of delivering that level of consistency, creativity and match-winning influence.
Mo Salah set an extraordinary standard at Anfield. Liverpool are now discovering just how difficult that standard is to replace.
Some players leave a club. Others leave a hole that takes years to fill. Salah could well be the latter.
