Would Konoplyanka Rather Sign For Spurs Than Liverpool ?

Dnipro president Igor Kolomoyski revealed that he is in talks with Tottenham Hotspur regarding a deal for winger Yevhen Konoplyanka. The Ukranian international has made 36 appearances for his country and was close to signing for Liverpool on the last day of January’s transfer window, but the Reds failed to finalise a deal.

Kolomoyski said that a move to Merseyside would be unsuitable for the 24-year-old, who according to him would prefer to live in London.

‘I have contacted with the Tottenham president. I am talking with him,’ Kolomoyski told Ukranian TV.

‘He is interested in Konoplyanka. We are in the stage of negotiations and are perhaps close to signing a contract if Yevhen agrees.’

‘I would choose Tottenham – London – not Liverpool. There are matches only once or twice a week, and at other times he will still need somewhere to live. I believe London life is preferable to Liverpool.’

If the Dnipro president’s words are true then it would be very disappointing for a player of Konoplyanka’s ability to choose to go to a club who look likely to miss out on Champions League football next season rather than go to a team that look certain to be involved in next season’s competition.

If Konoplyanka wants to move to England based on a team’s location rather than stature, then the Ukranian has a serious lack of ambition regarding his football career because Spurs are a club that constantly fail to make the step up to English football’s elite clubs despite the amount of money spent, whereas Liverpool are emerging once again as one of the top clubs in England under the leadership of Brendan Rodgers.

Konoplyanka is a tremendous player but if he joins Spurs rather than Liverpool then he may regret his decision based on lifestyle rather than football.

Swings and roundabouts really. Liverpool are certainly on the up at the moment, and look nailed on for a CL spot this year. How long will it last? Tough to say really. Wasn’t so long ago that Spurs were some distance ahead of Liverpool.

My guess is that, purely for footballing reasons, he’d be better off going to Liverpool – the managers doing a great job, you’ll have CL football and there’s stability. Spurs are all over the place.

    Football’s a funny old game though…

Maybe Dnipro would rather him sign for spurs than Liverpool because they have seen spurs spend silly money on average players recently and Dnipro think they will be more money from Spurs.

On the other hand if he wants to play for Spurs instead of Liverpool because he wants to live in London, he must an idiot who is more interested in life off the field rather than on it – if so Spurs can have him

littlepool will do an everton and get knocked out in the qualifying round. this year is a one off, a flash in the pan, pool are only in the top 4 cos they dont have to play in any other competition other than the league. the arrogance and ignorance of littlepool fans is amusing. it’s a shit city, a dump, no one in their right mind would want to live in a city full of unemployed junkie bag snatching zombies. London is a far superior city and Tottenham a far superior club than scumpool. dirty people, dirty city.

Perhaps Igor is still pissed off at the results of the last attempt by Liverpool to buy in Jan. and that is why he is saying such disparaging remarks about the city? Has he ever been to Liverpool?

Manchester is a $hit hole but I wonder does Ronaldo regret joining United? or Kun joining City? Kolomoyski is just a spiteful man and doing his best to keep Konoplyanka away from Liverpool but it’s Konoplyanka choice. One stumbling block would be do Liverpool really want to negotiate with them clowns again? I’d say definitely not.
