Liverpool Ticket Prices: Club Scraps Multi-Year Increase Plan After Protest

7 May

Liverpool FC have reportedly backed away from plans to increase ticket prices over the next three seasons following protests and growing frustration from supporters.

Instead, the club will introduce a 3% inflation-based rise for the 2026/27 season before freezing prices for 2027/28, with further discussions planned alongside the Supporters Board.

For many fans, this will feel like a rare example of supporter pressure actually making a difference.

Ticket prices have become a huge issue across football over the last few years, and Liverpool supporters made it clear they felt the club were pushing things too far.

Going to matches already comes at a massive cost for many people once you factor in travel, memberships, food and everything else around a matchday. For working supporters and families especially, another run of price increases would only have added to that frustration.

What makes Liverpool special has always been the supporters inside Anfield.

The atmosphere, the connection with the team and the loyalty shown home and away are part of the identity of the club. That’s why many fans felt so strongly about protecting access for ordinary supporters.

The 3% increase still won’t satisfy everyone, but compared to the original proposal, this feels like a far more reasonable compromise.

More importantly, it shows the club have at least listened to the reaction from supporters rather than simply pushing ahead regardless.

At a time where many fans across football feel increasingly disconnected from the clubs they support, this decision will be seen by many Liverpool supporters as an important step in the right direction.
