Szoboszlai Defends Slot as Liverpool Pressure Continues to Grow

8 May

Dominik Szoboszlai has come out strongly in support of Arne Slot amid all the criticism around Liverpool’s season.

Speaking about the manager, Szoboszlai said:

“That’s not a question at all. He’s our manager. And we are in his second season. In his first season, don’t forget, we won the Premier League. So no one lost faith in him from our side.”

You’d expect players to back their manager publicly, but it’s still important hearing someone like Szoboszlai say it so clearly.

Because there’s no doubt the pressure around Slot has grown massively over the last few months.

A lot of supporters are frustrated with the performances, team selections and how flat Liverpool have looked at times this season.

But inside the dressing room, it sounds like the players are still fully behind him.

And to be fair, Szoboszlai does make a valid point.

People can’t just completely erase the fact Slot won the league in his first season.

That achievement bought him credit, whether fans like hearing it or not.

The problem is football moves quickly.

Once performances start dropping and results turn inconsistent, supporters stop looking at what happened last year and focus on what they’re watching right now.

That’s why the debate around Slot has become so divided.

What matters now is how Liverpool respond next season.

Because if the players still believe in the manager, eventually that has to start showing properly on the pitch as well.
