Liverpool XI confirmed for Chelsea clash as Ngumoha starts

9 May

Liverpool FC have confirmed their starting lineup to face Chelsea FC and there’s a few interesting calls from Arne Slot.

The team is:

Mamardashvili; Jones, Konaté, Van Dijk, Kerkez; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Frimpong, Gakpo, Ngumoha.

Subs: Woodman, Gomez, Isak, Chiesa, Robertson, Nyoni, Morrison, Ndiaye, Wright.

Good to see Giorgi Mamardashvili fit enough to start after concerns over his fitness earlier this week.

And Rio Ngumoha keeping his place will make a lot of fans happy as well because at least he brings energy and directness to the attack.

Interesting that Curtis Jones starts at right-back again though.

Personally, I still would’ve preferred Joe Gomez there and Jones in midfield instead of either Ryan Gravenberch or Alexis Mac Allister.

The bench also looks stronger with Alexander Isak back involved after returning to training.

And having Federico Chiesa as an option could be important if Liverpool need more attacking threat later in the game.

Now it’s just about the performance.

Liverpool fans have seen enough disappointing displays recently and supporters will want to see far more intensity and urgency against Chelsea.
