Former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf believes Liverpool will move for Xabi Alonso and says supporters would be “very happy” if it happens.
Leboeuf was pretty brutal about Arne Slot and admitted he can’t really see things improving under him.
He said Liverpool have gone “down and down” this season and questioned Slot’s comments about already having the answers for next year.
Leboeuf also pointed out that with the World Cup coming up, Liverpool won’t exactly have loads of time to rebuild or suddenly transform the team.
The interesting part was him saying he doesn’t think Liverpool’s board will wait if Alonso is available.
And to be fair, a lot of supporters probably agree with that right now.
The mood around the club has changed massively over the last few months.
Performances have become passive, results have been poor and fans are starting to lose patience.
That’s why the Alonso rumours aren’t going away.
For many supporters, he feels like somebody who could bring excitement and belief back to the club again.
