Alan Shearer Predicts Liverpool Could Launch Stunning £160m Double Raid on Bournemouth

12 Jun

Liverpool’s links with Bournemouth players continue to intensify, and now one of England’s greatest-ever strikers has weighed in on the speculation.
Alan Shearer believes it would be no surprise if Liverpool targeted both Eli Kroupi and Alex Scott this summer, with reports suggesting the duo could cost a combined £160 million.
According to recent claims, Bournemouth value Kroupi at around £80m, while Scott carries a similar price tag.
If Liverpool were somehow to pursue both players, it would represent one of the biggest transfer investments in the club’s history.

Shearer Understands the Interest
Speaking to Betfair, Shearer admitted he completely understands why elite clubs are monitoring Bournemouth’s squad.
“I totally understand why bigger clubs will be looking at their players because of their outstanding performances.”
The former Newcastle striker also praised Bournemouth’s recruitment model.
“We’ve said it many times and we’ll say it again: their recruitment at Bournemouth has been off the charts.”
That is a sentiment many football observers share.
Over recent years, Bournemouth have consistently identified and developed talented young players who have gone on to attract attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Kroupi Has Taken the Premier League by Storm
Few young players have generated as much excitement this season as Eli Kroupi.
The 19-year-old French forward has enjoyed a remarkable campaign, scoring 13 goals and establishing himself as one of the most exciting attacking talents in English football.
His movement, finishing ability and composure in front of goal have drawn widespread praise.
For Liverpool supporters searching for the next generation of attacking stars, it is easy to see why his name keeps appearing in transfer discussions.

Alex Scott Continues to Impress
Meanwhile, Alex Scott’s reputation continues to grow.
The midfielder has developed into one of the Premier League’s most technically gifted young players and has become a key figure under Andoni Iraola.
His ability to carry the ball, break lines and influence games from midfield has led many supporters to believe he would be an ideal fit for Liverpool.
In fact, there is a growing view among sections of the fanbase that Scott could thrive in a Liverpool midfield, particularly under a manager who already knows him extremely well.

The Iraola Connection
One factor that cannot be ignored is Andoni Iraola’s relationship with both players.
The Spaniard worked closely with Scott and oversaw Kroupi’s development during his time at Bournemouth.
If Liverpool’s new head coach believes either player can make the step up to Anfield, his opinion will undoubtedly carry significant weight.
The familiarity between manager and player often reduces the risk involved in major transfers.

Would Liverpool Really Spend £160m?
That is the obvious question.
While both players are hugely talented, a combined £160m would be a massive investment.
Liverpool have shown a willingness to spend heavily when they identify priority targets, but it remains difficult to imagine the club committing that amount without significant departures first.
The reality is that Bournemouth’s valuations may ultimately prove the biggest obstacle.

A Story to Watch
Liverpool’s interest in Bournemouth’s emerging stars is understandable, but a £160m double swoop still appears unlikely at this stage.
Of the two, Kroupi arguably looks the more realistic target given Liverpool’s long-term need to refresh their attacking options, while Scott’s situation may depend on how the club ultimately prioritises midfield recruitment.
That does not rule out movement, however. Both players fit the profile Liverpool have increasingly targeted in recent years: young, high-ceiling talents with Premier League experience and significant room for development.
For now, Bournemouth’s asking prices remain a major barrier, but if those valuations soften or Liverpool generate funds through player sales, the conversation could quickly change.
With Shearer adding his voice to the growing admiration surrounding Kroupi and Scott, this is a transfer story that looks set to gather momentum. Expect fresh developments, scouting updates and potential bids to come under the spotlight as the summer window progresses.
