Liverpool Set to Unveil New Away Kit – But Red Shorts Already Dividing Opinion

28 Jul

Liverpool supporters won’t have to wait much longer to see the club’s new away kit.

The Reds are expected to officially unveil the strip tomorrow, just ahead of Wednesday’s pre-season clash with Wrexham.

However, one feature of the kit is already generating plenty of discussion.

The red shorts.

A Throwback to 1992

According to reports, Liverpool’s new away kit will feature red shorts, recreating the look of the club’s iconic 1992 away strip.

For many supporters, the design will bring back fond memories of the early Premier League era.

The 1992 kit has become something of a cult classic over the years, with its bold design still popular among fans today.

Bringing elements of that shirt back is sure to appeal to supporters who enjoy Liverpool’s rich history.

Not Everyone Is Convinced

While nostalgia will excite some fans, the choice of red shorts is already proving controversial.

Many supporters prefer the more traditional look of white or black shorts with Liverpool’s away kits and feel the red shorts make the strip look too similar to the home kit.

Others simply believe the combination doesn’t work aesthetically.

As is often the case with new football kits, opinions are split long before the players have even worn it.

First Look Against Wrexham

The good news is that supporters won’t have to rely on leaked images for much longer.

If everything goes to plan, Liverpool are expected to debut the new away kit in Wednesday’s friendly against Wrexham.

That will give fans their first opportunity to see how the full kit looks in action rather than in promotional photographs.

Sometimes a design that divides opinion at launch quickly grows on supporters once it is seen on the pitch.

Football Shirts Always Spark Debate

Every summer brings the same conversation.

Some supporters love the latest designs.

Others wish manufacturers would stick to simpler, more traditional styles.

Very few kits receive universal approval.

The 1992 away shirt itself divided opinion when it was first released before becoming one of Liverpool’s most recognisable retro designs.

Perhaps history will repeat itself.

Will Fans Change Their Minds?

For now, the red shorts appear to be the biggest talking point.

Some Liverpool supporters will love the nod to the past.

Others may struggle to warm to the look.

Either way, the debate is unlikely to stop once the kit is officially revealed.

One thing is certain.

Liverpool’s new away strip will have everyone talking before a ball is even kicked against Wrexham.
