Curtis Jones Keen on Inter Milan Move as Liverpool Prepare for Possible Midfield Change

31 Jul

Curtis Jones could be edging closer to the Liverpool exit door, with fresh reports suggesting the midfielder is keen on a move to Inter Milan this summer.

According to the latest update, Jones believes Serie A represents the ideal next step in his career, with discussions between the two clubs expected to continue in the coming days.

If a deal is agreed, it would mark the end of Jones’ long association with Liverpool, having progressed through the club’s academy to become a first-team regular.

Iraola Wanted Him to Stay

The report also claims that Andoni Iraola was hoping to keep Jones at Anfield.

The Liverpool head coach is understood to value the 25-year-old highly, appreciating his versatility, technical quality and ability to fit into a number of midfield roles.

However, Iraola is also prepared to respect the player’s wishes if he feels the time is right to seek a new challenge.

That approach reflects the Spaniard’s man-management style. Rather than keeping an unhappy player against his will, he appears willing to let Jones decide his own future.

Gap in Valuation

At present, the biggest obstacle remains the transfer fee.

Liverpool reportedly value Jones at around €40 million, while Inter Milan’s latest proposal is believed to be closer to €35 million.

That difference is not insurmountable, and there is growing confidence that further negotiations could eventually produce an agreement.

Should Inter return with an improved offer, Liverpool may decide that the time is right to part ways with one of their own academy graduates.

Adam Wharton Still Admired

If Jones does leave, Liverpool already have midfield targets under consideration.

One name that continues to be linked is Adam Wharton.

The Crystal Palace midfielder has long been admired by Liverpool’s recruitment team and remains one of the options being monitored should a vacancy open in the squad.

Wharton’s composure, passing range and tactical intelligence make him an attractive profile for Liverpool’s long-term plans.

While no decision has been made, Jones’ departure would almost certainly increase the likelihood of Liverpool entering the market for another midfielder.

End of an Era?

Jones has enjoyed some memorable moments in a Liverpool shirt.

From academy graduate to Premier League winner, he has always represented the club with pride and commitment.

Despite periods of frustration and competition for places, he has repeatedly shown his quality whenever called upon.

If he does move to Inter Milan, he would leave with the respect of many Liverpool supporters.

Busy Days Ahead

Liverpool’s transfer window could become even busier over the coming weeks.

The club remain focused on strengthening the squad, while also managing the futures of several current players.

Curtis Jones now appears to be one of the biggest stories to watch.

If an agreement with Inter Milan is reached, Liverpool may quickly turn their attention towards finding his successor.

And with Adam Wharton still admired internally, the midfield picture at Anfield could look very different before the transfer window closes.
