Arsenal Close to a Double — While Liverpool Are Left Wondering What Went Wrong

6 May

Arsenal pushing for a double… and it just makes it worse for Liverpool fans

You’ve got to be honest — Arsenal FC look like they’re on the verge of something big.

After falling short last season, they’ve come back stronger, sharper, and now they’re right there with a real chance of winning a double. You can see the belief in them, the way they play, the confidence… everything just looks right.

And that’s exactly what makes it so frustrating as a Liverpool FC fan.

Because where are we?

We won the league, spent big money, and this was supposed to be the season we pushed on again. Instead, it’s been a mess.

There’s no other way to put it.

One minute we look decent, the next we look completely off it. Same problems every week, no real consistency, and you’re still not sure what we’re actually trying to be as a team.

That’s the bit that gets me the most — there’s no clear direction.

Then you watch Arsenal and it just highlights everything.

They’ve taken the disappointment from last year and used it. We’ve had the platform and somehow gone backwards.

It doesn’t make sense.

Personally, I just feel like this season has been a massive missed opportunity.

The squad is good enough. The money was spent. Everything was there to build on.

And yet here we are, watching another team do exactly what we should have been doing.

Fair play to Arsenal FC, they’ve got it right.

But from a Liverpool point of view, it just leaves a bad taste — because we should have been right in the middle of it, not watching from the outside.

From a gooner: Cheers, sensible comment. I have no idea why it went wrong for you – after the first five games we all thought you’d won the title and we’d be lucky to make top 4. Hope you sort it out soon. It was so much nicer fighting you for the title last year like the ’88-91 period. 2 proper clubs as opposed to financially-doped parvenus.

Let’s hope next year is a Slot-Arteta battle like Dalglish-Graham back in the day.

If Man City hadn’t cheated you’d have won 2-3 more titles and Klopp would rightly be considered up there with Paisley et al.

They should be relegated one division each season for the next 115 years.

Btw, our money’s run out. We gambled everything last summer so I hope to God it works, cos this summer we have to sell first. So you’ll have a chance to close the gap.

Pity we both have to worry about the Manc cheats sponsored by companies that are nothing more than a Mayfair nameplate.

    All the best, Scousers.

I really appreciate your comments and some great points you made. Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to write your structured reply.
I also wish you good luck for the rest of the season as you deserve some trophies for the constant improvement shown in recent years.
Hopefully we can compete with you next season.
Thanks again, and all the best.
