Liverpool Like Baleba — But £80m Feels Far Too Much

7 May

Liverpool FC are still being linked with Carlos Baleba, but the reported £80 million asking price from Brighton & Hove Albion FC seems to have slowed things down a bit.

And honestly, that’s not surprising.

Baleba looks a really good player.

Strong in midfield, athletic, good on the ball and he’s still young enough to improve a lot more as well.

You can definitely see why Liverpool like him.

But £80 million is massive money.

Especially when there’s still other areas of the squad needing attention this summer.

Liverpool can’t afford to throw all their budget into one position again.

At the same time though, I do think midfield still needs strengthening.

Too many games this season have felt too easy for teams to play through us and we’ve lacked physicality in there at times.

Baleba would definitely help with that side of the game.

The problem is Brighton are brilliant at selling players.

They know exactly how much they want and they usually get it as well.

So unless Liverpool are absolutely convinced he’s the perfect fit, it’s hard seeing them paying that sort of fee.

Good player without doubt.

I’m just not sure he’s an £80 million player yet.
