Three Players Liverpool Fans Are Losing Patience With

7 May

This is something a lot of Liverpool FC fans have been asking recently.

Why does Arne Slot keep sticking with Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo no matter how they perform?

Because honestly, for me, they’ve probably been Liverpool’s most disappointing players this season.

Gravenberch still looks like a player with loads of ability, but too many games just pass him by.

There’s talent there, no doubt, but I still don’t know what his best position is and sometimes it feels like he drifts through matches without really affecting them.

Mac Allister frustrates me for different reasons.

Technically he’s a very good footballer, but this season he’s looked too slow defensively at times and Liverpool’s midfield gets opened up far too easily.

There’s been games where opponents just run straight through us.

As for Gakpo, I honestly expected much more consistency by now.

He has moments where he looks brilliant, then disappears for weeks.

Too often he slows attacks down or cuts inside into crowded areas instead of being direct.

The biggest frustration though is that no matter how they play, they seem guaranteed starters.

That’s what supporters are struggling with.

Because when players know they’re playing every week regardless, standards naturally drop.

Maybe Slot still trusts them because of their technical quality or because they fit his system better than others.

But from a fan perspective, it’s hard to ignore how inconsistent all three have been this season.

And if Liverpool want to improve next year, there has to be more competition for places than what we’ve seen recently.
