With Ekitiké Out Long-Term, Bringing Darwin Back Feels Like a No-Brainer

7 May

I honestly don’t care what people say about Darwin Núñez — if there was a chance to bring him back to Liverpool FC on a free transfer, I’d do it.

Straight away.

Especially now with Hugo Ekitiké out long term after rupturing his Achilles.

Yeah, he missed chances. Everyone knows that.

But he also gave absolutely everything every single game.

The running, the pressing, the aggression, the energy… even when things weren’t happening for him, he never hid.

And if we’re being honest, this current Liverpool side badly misses players with that sort of hunger.

What annoys me is people act like he was useless when his numbers actually weren’t bad at all.

Around 20 goal contributions most seasons while constantly getting criticised and moved around the front line isn’t terrible whatsoever.

He was massively underrated in my opinion.

But more than stats, he just felt connected to the club.

You could tell he loved playing for Liverpool and the fans appreciated that because supporters will always back players who leave everything out there.

Right now the team feels flat too often.

Darwin wasn’t perfect, far from it, but one thing he always brought was chaos, energy and commitment.

And honestly, I think we miss that a lot more than some people want to admit.
