Liverpool Player Ratings vs Chelsea as Slot Faces Growing Fan Anger

9 May

Giorgi Mamardashvili – 6

Made a couple of important saves after returning from injury, especially from Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernández.

Couldn’t really do much about the equaliser and overall probably did his job well enough.

Curtis Jones – 5

Some nice moments on the ball and a few clever passes through the lines, but defensively he struggled badly at times.

Chelsea kept getting down his side and you could clearly see he isn’t a natural right-back.

Had a goal ruled out in the second half as well.

Ibrahima Konaté – 5

Did okay in spells but looked uncomfortable with the amount of space opening up around him.

Had a difficult afternoon dealing with movement from João Pedro and runners coming from wide areas.

Virgil van Dijk – 5

Started the game strongly and made one massive defensive header early on.

Could easily have scored twice though and will be disappointed not to have taken one of those chances, especially the header against the bar late on.

Milos Kerkez – 5

Bright early on and tried to get forward, but his final ball let him down too often.

There’s energy there, but Liverpool needed more quality from him in attacking areas.

Ryan Gravenberch – 6

Probably Liverpool’s best senior player on the day.

His goal was brilliant and one of the few moments of real quality from Liverpool all afternoon.

Still switched off defensively at times though.

Alexis Mac Allister – 5

Worked hard as always, but again didn’t really influence the game enough.

Looks a long way off the player Liverpool fans watched over the last couple of seasons.

Dominik Szoboszlai – 5

Quiet for long periods and looked frustrated at times.

Improved a bit after half-time and at least tried to make things happen, hitting the post with a good effort.

Jeremie Frimpong – 4

Really poor.

Barely got involved in the first half and when he did get the ball his crossing and decision making were disappointing.

Looks completely wasted playing as a right winger.

Rio Ngumoha – 6

Liverpool’s brightest attacker again.

Set up the opening goal and looked like the only player capable of beating a man consistently.

The boos when he was substituted were completely understandable because taking him off made no sense at all.

Cody Gakpo – 3

Anonymous.

You genuinely forgot he was on the pitch for long spells and nothing really came off for him all game.

One of his worst performances in a Liverpool shirt.

Subs

Alexander Isak – 4

Looked rusty and never really got into the game after coming on.

Joe Gomez – 5

Did okay after replacing Konaté without really standing out.

Federico Chiesa – 5

Tried to bring energy but still looks miles away from making a real impact.

Arne Slot – 3

Started well but once again Liverpool dropped deeper after scoring instead of going for the kill.

The decision to take Ngumoha off completely killed the atmosphere inside Anfield and the boos at full-time told the story.

Right now the pressure on Slot is growing with every game.
