He may not arrive as an automatic starter, but he looks like exactly the type of player capable of developing into an important part of Iraola’s project over the coming years.
Sometimes the smartest signings are those made before everyone else realises just how good a player can become.
Liverpool appear to recognise that.
Now the question is whether they are prepared to take the next step.
