Iraola Ensures Injured Trio Remain Part of Liverpool Squad During USA Tour

20 Jul

Liverpool’s upcoming pre-season tour of the United States will not only be about preparing the players who are fit for the new campaign.

According to James Pearce, Hugo Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley will all travel with the squad despite continuing their recoveries from long-term injuries.

Rather than remaining behind at the AXA Training Centre, the trio will continue their rehabilitation in America alongside their teammates.

It is a decision that says a great deal about Andoni Iraola’s approach to squad management.

More Than Just Physical Recovery

Recovering from a long-term injury is about far more than regaining fitness.

Players can often feel isolated while teammates prepare for matches, travel together and build relationships during pre-season.

By taking Ekitike, Leoni and Bradley to the United States, Iraola is ensuring they remain fully integrated within the group.

That sense of belonging can be just as important psychologically as the rehabilitation work itself.

Building a Strong Dressing Room

One of the qualities that helped define Liverpool’s greatest sides under Jürgen Klopp was togetherness.

No player felt forgotten.

No player felt disconnected.

Even those sidelined through injury remained heavily involved with the squad.

Iraola appears keen to continue that culture.

Travelling with the team allows the injured players to:

● Attend tactical meetings.

● Build relationships with teammates.

● Observe training sessions.

● Remain involved in the daily routine.

● Continue feeling like an important part of the squad.

That can make a significant difference during lengthy recoveries.

Three Players Liverpool Need Back

Each member of the injured trio could play an important role once fully fit.

Hugo Ekitike was expected to add pace, movement and goals to Liverpool’s attack before his injury setback.

Giovanni Leoni remains one of the club’s most exciting young defensive prospects and is viewed as a player with enormous long-term potential.

Conor Bradley, meanwhile, had established himself as Liverpool’s first-choice right-back before injury interrupted his progress.

Getting all three back fit will feel like adding new signings later in the season.

Iraola’s Man-Management Already Showing

It is often said that great managers are judged not only by tactics but by how they manage people.

This decision suggests Iraola understands that perfectly.

Keeping injured players close to the squad helps maintain morale and reinforces the message that every member of the group matters.

That approach can strengthen the dressing room over the course of a long season.

Looking Ahead

While Liverpool supporters will naturally be focused on the players taking part in matches during the USA tour, it is equally encouraging to know that Ekitike, Leoni and Bradley will be there too.

Their recoveries remain the priority.

But ensuring they stay connected to the squad could prove invaluable when they eventually return to full fitness.

It is a small decision on the surface.

Yet it may say a great deal about the environment Andoni Iraola is trying to build at Liverpool.

A united squad is often the foundation of a successful season.

And Iraola appears determined to make sure no one is left behind.
