After West Ham United had a late goal ruled out against Arsenal yesterday , a lot of Manchester City fans are furious with the officials.
And honestly, Liverpool fans probably understand that feeling better than anyone.
Under Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool lost two league titles by a single point and both seasons included refereeing decisions supporters still haven’t got over.
In 2018/19, Martin Atkinson somehow didn’t give Liverpool a blatant penalty after Naby Keïta was brought down against Leicester City at Anfield.
Liverpool drew the game and ended the season one point behind City.
Then in 2021/22 there was the Rodri handball against Everton that Paul Tierney somehow ignored.
Again, City won the game and again Liverpool finished one point short.
Liverpool fans still talk about that decision now because those moments end up deciding titles.
So while Liverpool and City supporters obviously aren’t exactly best mates, Liverpool fans definitely know what it feels like to watch massive decisions go against you in a title race.
And when leagues are decided by one point, supporters never forget those moments.

The Rodri decision was strange but City won 2-0. Even if Everton had converted the penalty, City would still have got the 3 points.
Didn’t City restart the game with a free kick for offside after that incident? I’ve still to see photographic evidence of the ball hitting his arm in any case. It wasn’t possible for the referee to see whether the ball was touching Rodri’s arm or not as his arm was inbetween the ball and the referee.
What makes you think you know what we think, I couldn’t give a monkeys about not winning the title, it’s not the end of the world like it was for you, in fact I know plenty of fellow City supporters who don’t really care, we’ve won one cup and in the final of another, we’re in the Champions League and are new team is t even finished.
